Council Membership

Council Structure

The Advisory Council Program is comprised of 14 councils. On average, 700 friends and alumni of the University serve as members of the Advisory Councils at one time. The Councils range in size from approximately 10 to 95 members.

Advisory Council members serve 3-year terms; up to three terms. After the third successive term, a member must rotate off the Council for at least one year before re-approach. Each Council is staffed by one or multiple unit-specific development officers.

Together, the Council Chair and the Dean or Director of the unit develop the agenda and programming for their Council meetings with assistance from the staff. Councils hold between 1 to 3 formal meetings during the academic year with several hosting additional salons and other Council events at other points throughout the year.
