The Advisory Council Program is comprised of fourteen councils. On average, 700 friends and alumni of the University serve as members of the Advisory Councils at any given time. The Councils range in size from approximately 10 to 95 members.
Advisory Council members serve three-year terms and serve up to three terms. After the third successive term, a member must rotate off the Council for at least one year before re-approach. After the one-year rotation, individuals may be nominated to another three-year term on the Advisory Council and may serve three successive terms. Each Council is staffed by one or multiple unit-specific development officers, who work in close coordination with the Office of the Secretary and Alumni Relations and Development.
Together, the Council Chair and the Dean or Director of the unit develop the agenda and programming for their Council meetings with assistance from the staff. Councils hold between one to three formal meetings during the academic year with several hosting additional salons and other Council events at other points throughout the year.
