As an Advisory Council member, you are eligible to receive library access and an annual membership to the athletics center on campus.

Please see below for information regarding internet access for your mobile device, tablet, or computer.

Library Borrowing Rights

If you would like to use the University libraries to borrow items, please visit the Library Privileges Office located on the main floor of Regenstein Library, 1100 East 57th Street, where a card will be issued to you.

Gerald Ratner Athletics Center Membership

Advisory Council members may purchase annual memberships (at the Alumni rate) or single-use guest passes for the Gerald Ratner Athletics Center. This facility, designed by architect Cesar Pelli and named for alumnus Gerald Ratner (AB’35, JD’37), includes a 50-meter by 25-yard swimming pool, a multi-level fitness facility, a multi-purpose dance studio, competition and auxiliary gymnasiums, and the University of Chicago Athletics Hall of Fame.

Whether you are interested in purchasing an annual membership or a single-use guest pass, please apply directly at the front desk of the Ratner Center, which is located at 5530 South Ellis Avenue, at the intersection of Ellis Avenue and 55th Street. The front desk is open weekdays between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.

Internet Access

The University does not provide open guest Internet to the public; however, there are three ways you can be connected.

If you have a faculty or staff sponsor:

The “UChicago-Guest” network allows campus visitors to access the internet with the approval of any faculty or full-time staff member. Access can be granted by a sponsor online through http://uchicago-guest.uchicago.edu. For more information see this ITServices answers page.

If you are doing library research:

Those interested in library research can inquire at the Regenstein Library front desk about guest internet access. This pass will also allow you to view the Special Collections. You may find their hours here.

All guests will log on with their new password on the “UChicago-Guest” wireless network. This network is unsecured, so please browse at your discretion.
